Dotterels and beach sticks by Room 2 children at Stanhope Road School, Mt Wellington, Auckland
Last spring, 2023, I purchased a print of Miranda's dotterels at Raglan. I collected beach sticks during the summer holiday. After much thought, I joined Miranda's style with our beach stick project. The children are seven and eight years old and worked hard to show their beach interpretation on their sticks. Here are some comments from the children:
It's pretty. It looks like a tropical beach. The artist put a lot of thought into it. Kiran
It's amazing. It is the style of the art. I like the way that it's cracked in the sky. Questa
It's cool because of the beach and the shells. I like the way Miranda has painted all the plants. It's cool how she's drawn the dotterels. It's colourful. Ollie
It's an amazing coastal piece of art. The sand is a nice gold colour and the sea is a nice turquoise colour. It brings the story out. James
